Episode 17 – Unity

Unity is the power of each human being to know herself genetically, but also to know herself as one of the strands that sews the fabric of the cosmos together.

Life expresses itself in infinite ways.  It’s not the individuals, but rather the expression of the One Life Force through those individuals that becomes the Unity that binds the cosmos together.

Episode 16 – Resistance

Resistance is the hara – the power center – of this body of work.  It is the CEO of this cosmology

A person who has Resistance in his or her garment pattern is particularly gifted with the ability to take in the high frequency of spiritual energy, provide an appropriate amount of resistance, and deliver it to the terminal in useful form.  Without the resistor, energy would be unidentifiable, uninterpreted, and not useful.

Episode 15 – Ecstasy

How to experience Ecstasy:  Not by doing, but by being.  You must let it flow through your beingness!

The spiritual definition of Ecstasy is simply the uninterrupted flow of divine energy.  It is energy moving with absolute freedom to express itself and experience itself in its highest form.  You can’t “do” Ecstasy, but you can learn to let it “be” in you.

Episode 14 – Intelligence

Spiritual Intelligence is not IQ.  It involves gathering accurate information through your heart-mind and distributing it throughout your whole being

Spiritual Intelligence relies on energy, vibrations, sensations, nature.  It weighs all information (sound, smell, taste, touch, vocabulary, implication, vibration and frequency) against the feather of truth.

Episode 13 – Creativity

Spiritual Creativity involves the manifestation of something totally new

Creativity asks us to think outside the box, to shatter old paradigms, to manifest that which is unique.  Art is not always “creative” — in fact, too often art is imitative.

Episode 12 – Flowering, Unfolding, Evolving

Flowering changes the structure of human thought

Flowering, Unfolding, Evolving are the three words that name this principle.  Or, if you prefer, it could be called Changing.  This CHANGE is away from the isolation and separation that we’ve learned with our head-brains, toward right relationship and connectivity as governed by our heart-mind.

Episode 11 – Reciprocity

Reciprocity is the “what comes around goes around” principle

Reciprocity is about balance.  It’s karmic.  But it’s not a karma or a balance that humans create.  It’s a force, a spiritual influence, a cosmic see-saw that already exists and operates.  We just need to become aware of it if we want to understand that our decisions create our reality.

Episode 10 – Awareness

Awareness begs the question:  Where is brain; where is mind?

Awareness awakens humans to a self-conscious perspective–it bridges instinct and consciousness. In this episode we also discuss how knitting a big circle with two holes in it is a metaphor for Awareness.  We’ll talk making decisions based on the politics of belief. And an extra-surprising surprise ending.

Episode 9 – Goodness

Goodness and playfulness become synonyms.

Goodness and playfulness become synonyms in this new podcast.  Connie Kaplan teaches you how to take the judgment off the word “good” by turning it into play.  She describes how her own play – knitting – can sometimes turn to frustration.  And she shares about a friend who has suffered over his own definition of Goodness.  The closing surprise is guaranteed to make you smile!

Episode 8 – Generosity

Generosity asks you to "give it all away."  Does that scare you?

Generosity asks you to "give it all away."  Does that scare you?  Give a listen before you go running from the room.  You'll be challenged to become a stitch in the larger fabric of life.  You'll hear about a man who did give it all away - or so he said.  You'll get some feedback from a Twisted Sister.  And in the surprise ending - you guessed it - Connie found a song called "give it all away."

Episode 7 – Regeneration

Regeneration is the energetic drive that allows for the flow of information between cells driving us toward our divinity, toward our destiny.

Regeneration is the topic of this podcast.  You’ll hear about how the plant kingdom and the human kingdom share information in order to renew the human body.  You’ll get another knitting assignment – this time a mobius strip.  You’ll hear how, in Connie’s life anyway, it’s not easy being green.  And you’ll hear some of the feedback from other listeners.  Amazing new band, The Switch sings Realign as the closing surprise.

Episode 6 – Extension

Extension can be summed up in five words:  Life longs to extend itself.

Extension can be summed up in five words:  Life longs to extend itself.  In this episode, chilis teach us about Extension. You receive a spiritual knitting assignment. We look at the difference between making an ethical decision FOR something and making a naysayer decision against something.  Connie apologizes for making a stupid historical error. And Eric Maskol sings "The Big Hand."

Episode 5 – Beauty

Beauty is light organizing itself in a specific way, then traveling through the cosmos for millions of years just to be seen by you! Beauty longs to be appreciated.

Beauty is ostentatious and wants to be admired.  That's the nature of the spiritual principle.  In this episode Connie Kaplan discusses Beauty as it reflects itself to us through the Hubble telescope, knitting a coat of Beauty that fits a buffalo, speaking Beauty, Beauty and body mutilation, and Dreaming Blue singing Beauty.

Episode 4 – Memory

Memory is the imprint of the essential patterns that determine the recreation of life.  Sperms and eggs know what to do, birds and bees know what to do, acorns know how to become oak trees, and coal knows how to make a diamond!

Memory as a spiritual principle is quite different from remembering as a cognitive exercise.  In this episode, Connie discusses Memory as it is stored in the stones and bones, knitting lace as an exercise in yarn-memory, the ugly mirror of American unconscious memory, and she begs shamelessly for feedback!

Purity goes to the farmer's market in this episode.  There's a tribute to the late Senator Ted Kennedy. And Seedwoman shares some wisdom and a poem with us.  And, of course, a surprise ending.

Episode 2 – Innocence

Innocence is anchored in the heart, which is the “brain” of the 21st Century human.

Innocence is the topic of this episode.  Connie Kaplan discusses how it anchors itself in the heartmind of a person.  She explains that knitters are really quantum physicists.  She talks about how science has finally discovered the principle of Innocence.  And there are two special surprises this week:  a beautiful essay by a knitting, dreaming Innocent – and a song.

Episode 1 – Placement

Placement is about locating oneself in time and space.  Everyone has a connection to placement, because everyone has a body that occupies space.

Placement is the principle Connie Kaplan discusses in this first episode. She describes Placement as the principle which helps us locate ourselves in time and space.  She talks about how knitting provides a perfect metaphor for Placement – specifically in the knitting of socks. She outlines how a misunderstanding of this principle can lead to war. And then she saves a marriage! Plus there's a delightful closing surprise.

The Invisible Garment Podcasts – Introduction

What to Expect in The Invisible Garment Podcasts

This first podcast is short and sweet.  It simply outlines for you what to expect in The Invisible Garment Podcasts. Each one will come in at least four parts:
  1. Spiritual Principles - I will discuss one of the spiritual principles of form, as described in my book The Invisible Garment:  30 spiritual principles that weave the fabric of human life.
  2. Knitting -  I will discuss knitting.  It's a leap for some, but in my world, knitting is the best metaphor I know for the life of a spiritual practitioner - trust me, you'll see.
  3. The Politics of Ethical Behavior - I will talk about how the spiritual principles of form are showing up in our cultural mirrors:  politics, art, religion, music, and other "out there" aspects of our lives.
  4. Feedback - Readers and listeners will send in ideas, suggestions, questions, inspirations, and dreams to be shared with everyone.
There may also be surprise interviews, book reviews, op-eds, or music.

Less pedantic, more conversational, these podcasts will make you think more concretely about the spiritual principles that guide our lives.
